About Nayland College
The school is located at approximately 7 km from the centre of Nelson and near the beach of Tahuna. Nelson has a population of about 50,000 inhabitants located in the north of South Island, known as the “Sun Capital” of New Zealand with beaches, national parks, water sports and alpines.
Nayland College is in the very centre of the local community. All the families live close to school and the students can walk or bike to school.
Nayland College is known for the outdoors education and also for its marine biology program. The privileged location of the school allows to offer globalized classes in a natural environment of national parks, rivers, ocean and mountains that surround the school.
Disciplines: As examples of the diversity of disciplines offered, they are: Psychology, Photography, Dance, Drama, Music, Culinary, Digital Design, Design and Visual Communication, Painting, a large range of disciplines in Technology, Fashion Design, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Business Studies, Economy, Sociology, Mathematics, Maori Language and Culture, Marine Biology and many others.
Other after classes extra activities include clubs of drama and dance, theatre, sports, orchestra, choir, jazz, rock, and concert bands, ecological clubs and debates in journalism, to mention some of them.
Sports are also offered such as football (soccer), volleyball, rugby, basketball, frisbee, futsal, and netball.
