The ESOL Department offers English language support to international students across the entire school curriculum.  In addition to the academic subjects, we offer a wide range of practical subjects such as Outdoor Education, Technology, Hospitality, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.

Kerikeri High School has over 40 different sports available during the academic year including sailing, mountain biking, soccer (football), rugby, basketball, volleyball, athletics, swimming, cross country running, triathlon, tennis, hockey,

and netball to name some of them. International students are encouraged to trial out for a place in the team alongside the Kiwi students.

International students are also encouraged to participate in clubs and social activities at school including Kapa Haka (Māori culture group), music and bands, drama productions, debating, SAVE Environmental Group and Duke of Edinburgh tramps as well as our formal senior school ball. Getting involved in a club is a great way to make new friends and become part of our community.

International students enrolled at Kerikeri High School can choose to take part in one of our Academic Plus Programmes; Sailing, Surfing or Equestrian. Students doing these programmes will study regular classes Monday – Thursdays and on Fridays they will be participating in their chosen Academy. The additional cost of these programmes includes professional coaching, equipment, and transport.

Students live with local host families enjoying a “Kiwi family experience”. Kerikeri High School has welcomed international students for 26 years, we have a dedicated caring International Department team with an “open door” policy offering 24/7 support to our international students and host families.

Kerikeri is in the beautiful Bay of Islands, it has a population of around 10,000 and is home to a vibrant and diverse community.
